Lily Whitney LaCosse

Biography

 

Lily is the AWLC’s Executive Office and Administrative Specialist. She enjoys information management and systems thinking. Previously she worked as a residential and commercial project manager in Colorado and Minneapolis. An avid outdoor enthusiast & alpine skier, she is delighted to be back in Duluth where she can coach ski racing, mountain bike, and swim in Lake Superior. When she isn’t moving, she is reading; working with others who are passionate about reading and writing is a dream come true.

Jenna Trenberth

Biography

 

Jenna has held a variety of roles in higher education; at UMD she has also worked as a student worker, staff member, and a graduate teaching assistant. Outside of work, Jenna enjoys spending time with her husband, Tony, and daughter, Mara, traveling when possible, and trying out textile arts.

Biography

 

Sam is interested in a great many things including Theatre History, Computer Science, Physics, Chess, Sailing, his kids.

Jade Sandbulte

Biography

 

Jade's research and educational background have focused on English as a Second Language and learning initiatives outside of traditional classroom environments. His M.A. thesis focused on a student-led conversational English program at a university, and his PhD dissertation examined the experiences of the spouses of international students living in the U.S. Jade has taught tutor training, first-year writing, and a variety of ESL courses for undergraduate and graduate students.

Jill D. Jenson

Biography

 

Jill taught various upper- and lower-division writing courses as well as composition theory and pedagogy at UMD for over 25 years before assuming the role as Director of the Academic Writing and Learning Center. In addition to educational administration, Jill enjoys helping others make sound rhetorical choices and editing academic and professional pieces. In her spare time you’ll find her on the shores of Lake Superior, walking, hiking, or just listening to the waves.

Anna Gavrilova

Biography

 

Anna taught ESL classes for over 20 years and is now teaching five-week SSP courses. Her professional and research interests focus on academic reading, active learning, and time and stress management. Anna is fascinated with the intricate workings of the human brain and loves to share her passion with others. She enjoys helping students in their self-development as well as academic performance.
