Our Tutors

Our tutors are fellow UMD students who have met certain criteria specified by the departments for which they tutor. Tutors undergo a 2-credit training course in which they learn educational theories and tutoring strategies.

Our Program

The Tutoring Center has received Level 3 certification by the College Reading and Learning Association, the highest level available through CRLA. Our program has the following learning outcomes for tutors and tutees:

  1. Student tutors will explain the various ways they and others learn, interact, and make and implement decisions.
  2. Student tutors will apply effective tutoring and interpersonal communication techniques in one-to-one and group tutoring settings.
  3. Tutees will feel confident in their ability to apply concepts and strategies learned in the Tutoring Center on their own.
